Who are your heroes?
Being Dutch – growing up in Alkmaar with AZ as the local footballclub, but spending years in Spain – where bullfighting is part of culture, it makes you mix things up! Some think bullfighters are cruel and malicious, for others they are the true and fearless heroes. For many of you football players or politicians are people to look up to, to remember in history books…
I painted these series in 2009 in Andalucia, Spain. They were exhibited in Alkmaar and Bergen nh NL. Currently some of them are on view in Valencia ES.
